Talkative wife

There are two kinds of people; one who talks non-stop nonsense like me and another who rarely utters a word.
I have known a man for 10 years and all that I could get out of him as reply to my greetings is: “Hmmm.”
How are you?
“Hmmm.”
How is family?
“Hmmm.”
It so happened I met him along with his wife yesterday.
“How are you?” I asked.
“Hmmm,” he replied as usual.
And then his wife took off. “Oh, you are that guy. My husband has told me about you. Oh, you are from Chennai. You have two daughters. Oh…,” on and on she went. Finally, she took a deep breath and asked: “How is your family?”
“Hmmm,” I replied and took to my heels.
It dawned on me why her husband just says “Hmmm.” She takes care of the rest.

  9. hmm...if i talk about me...i use hmms..often and speak too often...i use bth of my skills...
would like to share the psycho behind this extra-words phobia...(i was in my teenage)one aunty was once asked why doesnt she give her husband an opportunity to speak...she answered...if i give the opportunity then he will keep mute and we all will be bored...or else if by chance he speaks then he will utter some uninteresting words..so better i should take the lead ...nice decision by the aunt..no..

  15. oh my god, im very sure, one fine day somebody will write something similar to this about me. recently when college ended, got scrap books filled by classmates.. everybody invariably wrote "chatterbox", "we never get bored when ur around", 'where do u get such things to talk abt?", "do u think the world is gonna get oevr tomor that ur talkin so much", "ur the most talkative girl of ur batch","u'll ahve a mandible fracture someday" and so on in my book. one person even called me a shatabdi express coz i talk real fast.. but still, they all liked me that way u know?

n now that im at home, mom is the only person who i can bug. i talk so much when she comes home, that last week she said, "u shud reduce talkin a li'l bit "... awww.... :(
