Trends and bends

Talk of fashion and I love to see people in different styles.
As long as they are modern and not vulgar, I admire them.
Like my good friend whom we call “captain.” He likes to wear low-hip jeans. There are occasions where it looks like the jean would just drop down, but it never happens, thank God. Girls like him and I envy him.
There is this Egyptian friend who changes the colour of his hair often, looks slim, leaves his shirt buttons open and wears funny coloured shirts. But nothing attracts your attention more than his smile. Vallah, through him I have learnt: Even if you are the best dressed man, if you can’t smile, you are as good as naked.
This girl loved gold. Her hands were covered with bangles. Afford she could, because her hubby was CEO of a giant media channel. I found her tense most of the time. Does money buy happiness? God knows.
About me? I am fond of jeans and T-shirts. I love to wear the “Kada” (silver coloured ring) Sardarjis wear from the Golden Temple. I had one for several years, but misplaced it somewhere. I asked a blog friend in Dubai from Amritsar to bring one for me. He decided to stay off my blog ever after.

“This ear ring you are wearing. Is it original diamond?”
“I have to ask my wife,” replied the man.

  1. As long as I am comfortable in the clothers and accesories I wear, I am ok with fashion, anything that makes me conscious, I will not agree to even if it makes me a fashion disaster.

  2. Yes, fashion is liked by me too. However, it has now touched a low in India to the extent at times it could be termed cheap.I suppose it is a matter of choice.
May be some day I will gift you a kada---I visit Amritsar at least twice a year.

  4. the kada story was funny dear friend..!
i guess everyone has a desire to look good : read presentable, not necessarily to attract attention.

and as you said its ok... as long as its not vulgar and overboard.

  7. For me, a T shirt and jeans works just fine. Formal wear gets a little complex for meetings or arbitrations, where I try to keep the colors subtle and sombre, without trying to be loud or trying to catch attention. Like you gave examples, I see a lot of people experimenting with different styles, most of it doesn't always suit them. Coloring hair, for example, is a complete no-no with me. Same with wearing earrings, bangles, going to beauty parlors for 'men's' facial and stuff. Maybe its boring to say so but that's me and I am more comfortable being me.

    Glad to read this post:)

  8. I am a earring freak:I have eight of them pierced all around my ears. I like them very much and I know they look good on me. And regarding dressing, I am mostly well dressed, but before people can complement about my dress sense they go ga ga over my earrings, so I end up getting only complements for my earrings. And that is sad.
That was as usual a good post from you.

  9. Fashion... uff! Its not just what you wear, you know. It's also a whole lot about whether you can carry the stuff off. I have seen people carry off something totally bizarre with elegance & beauty.

  14. Wear a smile and forget about the brands and trends. :-)

Whatever one wears, the person has to be able to carry it off and must be comfortable. Else its awkward

  20. I wear jeans while traveling or if it is too cold. Otherwise I hate jeans.

I wear occasion appropriate cloths...tie and suit at weddings and formal parties. Business casual at work. Casual at home and informal parties.

Most people think I wear good cloths and per my wife I must wear good cloths...you know why...'if one is ugly..good cloths can hide little bit'
